Image Rights & Credits

Space Launch Live’s celestial-body, mission, and launch pages draw on imagery from space agencies worldwide. Our Pro membership sells access to our live tracking tools, editorial, and mission analysis—never the imagery itself, which remains the property of its original source under the terms below.

NASA, JPL-Caltech, and U.S. federal agencies

NASA content—images, audio, video, and related files—is generally not copyrighted and is in the public domain per the NASA Media Usage Guidelines. We credit each image to its capturing instrument team (e.g., “NASA/JPL-Caltech/MSSS”). NASA does not endorse Space Launch Live, its services, or its Pro membership.

The NASA “meatball” and “worm” logos are protected trademarks of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and are not used on this site. Astronaut names and likenesses, where featured, are presented in an editorial / informational context only.

European Space Agency (ESA)

ESA imagery on this site (Rosetta, Giotto, Hubble/ESA, Huygens, JUICE, etc.) is generally licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 IGO per ESA’s image copyright notice. Attribution is provided per-image. Derivative works are shared back under the same license.

JAXA / ISAS (Japanese material)

Imagery from JAXA missions (Hayabusa, Hayabusa2, MMX, Akatsuki, etc.) remains the property of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and partner institutions. It is reproduced here for editorial and educational purposes with attribution in accordance with JAXA’s copyright policy. Downloading, redistribution, or commercial resale of JAXA imagery by site visitors is not granted by Space Launch Live and must be cleared with JAXA directly.

ESO and other observatories

European Southern Observatory imagery is used under CC BY 4.0. Ground-based imagery from other observatories is credited per-image; where Creative Commons licensing applies (Wikimedia Commons contributors, etc.), the license is noted in the image caption.

Third-party image corrections

We make good-faith efforts to attribute every image accurately. If you are a rights holder, an image contributor, or an attribution has been misapplied, please contact us and we will correct it or remove the asset promptly.
