The Apollo program was NASA’s third human spaceflight program, which succeeded in landing twelve astronauts on the Moon between 1969 and 1972. It remains humanity’s only crewed deep-space exploration program. Apollo advanced our understanding of lunar geology, demonstrated precision navigation, and inspired generations of scientists and engineers.
