Today’s launch adds to Amazon’s growing Leo constellation, formerly called Project Kuiper. According to United Launch Alliance, this mission carries 29 satellites that will join Amazon’s planned network of 3,276 satellites across three orbital layers.
The Leo constellation aims to provide broadband internet access globally, competing with SpaceX’s Starlink network. These satellites will operate at altitudes between 590 and 630 kilometers, spread across 98 orbital planes to ensure worldwide coverage.
