ABOUT N1 ROCKET

The N1 was the Soviet Union’s super heavy-lift launch vehicle intended to compete with the Saturn V for crewed lunar missions. Standing 105 meters tall with 30 NK-15 engines in its first stage, it was the largest rocket ever built at the time. All four launch attempts between 1969 and 1972 ended in failure, and the program was cancelled in 1974.
